About Sue

My painting journey began as a teenager with oils and ‘poster paints’. I have painted in most mediums, including acrylics and on-glaze bone china and porcelain. My favourite medium these days is watercolour, particularly transparent pigment as I love its freshness and vibrancy. I enjoy ‘traditional’ landscape scenes but I’m also very interested in creating pattern and textural effects and experimenting with semi-abstract themes. My favourite subjects are landscape, dancers, flowers and animals. I have exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Artist and Leisure Painter Magazine Competition and many others. In 2021 I achieved a Rising Star Award in the International Watercolour Masters Event, UK and in 2022 and 2023 I have again been awarded as a Top 200 Artist out of around 3,000 entrants in the same event.  My paintings have represented England in the FabrianoinAcquarello international festival for the last four years. I have write articles for the Leisure Painter magazine.  I am a fully qualified teacher and I tutor watercolour and mixed media classes, workshops and painting holidays and retreats in the U.K. and Europe. Please browse and I hope you enjoy my website. Many thanks for looking in!

My work is available for sale by private message via my contact page.
